Installation in Hammond XB-2 (old HX3 kit)
Obsolete, for reference only!
Install HX3 mainboard and LCD interface board as pictured using wood screws and 5mm plastic spacers. Cut and Connect black/yellow strain to green HX3 power connector (plus = yellow, Gnd = black). Connect LCD and button cables to matching connectors on LCD interface board.
Install jack board from XB-2 kit and connect 5-pin power connector from power supply (orange/black/green/black/yellow), also connectors from volume/reverb pots. On #1.1 version boards, cut off 8-pin header with three brown/red/white wires on volume pot cable and connect all three wires together, insulate with shrink tube. On #1.3 boards, just plug in 8-pin header on jack board.
Install five 10-pin and one 16-pin flat ribbon cables from LCD interface board to HX3 board as pictured. Note: Plugs may have different cable outlet, just regard pin 1 orientation (red wire on flat ribbon cable).
Install long 10-pin flat ribbon cable from HX3 PL12 to jack board and long 8-pin flat ribbon cable from LCD interface board to jack board.
Install two 3-pin audio cables from HX3 to jack board according to silk screen lettering. Re-install MIDI jack board and connect to 12-pin MIDI bulk connector. Install 2-pin contrast adjust cable from small MIDI adapter board to LCD interface board. Install two 3-pin cables from MIDI adapter board to HX3 MIDI connectors according to silk screen printing. Remark: MIDI adapter board may be integrated on jack board on future versions, so installation looks different.
Re-Install keyboard and ground wire, connect keyboard to LCD interface board.
Plug in Leslie 11-pin connector on jack board. Solder ground wire to ground point at 10 Ohms resistor (brown/black/black color coding) on jack board as shown. Note: #1.3 boards provide a separate ground lug, solder here. Check cabling again and switch on. Display should light up and display welcome message. Check all buttons and functions. Note: Some button and jack usage is different, so regard user manual. Switch off XB-2.
Re-Install keyboard and ground wire, connect keyboard to LCD interface board. That's it! Check cabling again and switch on. Attach self-adhesive lettering. Check all buttons and functions.
